Overview

About the Department

The Public Information Services Department manages KIB’s library, information and public engagement services. It provides access to Braille and audio library collections, a cyber café adapted for users with visual impairment, reading stations, and experiential heritage spaces. The department also coordinates exhibitions, media features and outreach initiatives that promote awareness and inclusion of persons with visual impairment in education and society.

Our Mandate

To provide accessible library, information and ICT services for persons with visual impairment and other print disabilities, and to lead public information, exhibitions and awareness initiatives that promote inclusion and appreciation of accessible formats and technologies.

Heritage & Experience Centre

The Heritage & Experience Centre hosts interactive exhibitions and experiences that showcase the history of services for persons with visual impairment, accessibility innovations and inclusive culture.

Online Library Registration

Online Library Registration enables users across Kenya to register remotely for KIB library services, making access easier and more inclusive.

Public Outreach & Exhibitions

Public Outreach & Exhibitions support awareness on visual impairment, accessibility and inclusive education through events, exhibitions and campaigns.

Reading Stations

Reading Stations provide accessible ICT points equipped with screen readers, magnifiers and other technologies to support independent access to information.
